It's an invitation from BMW to their Launch Event of the X1!!! That was what made us beat the notorious traffic jams of KL city centre last evening to make our way to Avenue K - the venue for this exclusive launch. There was already a long line of sleek beemers parked all over the entrance to the building when we arrived just before 8.00pm.
We then made our way to the Registration Counter... it was quicker at the "White Card Members" lane - that's where we headed...

After getting our "passports", we were given these wrist bands...(which we had to wear throughout the evening)...

Food and drinks - free flow of wines, beer, martinis, fruit juices were served by the service crew from Westin Hotel...

We wined and we dined and waited impatiently for the Main Thing of the night... Finally, Geoff Briscoe, the Managing Director of BMW Malaysia took to the stage, said a few words of welcome & appreciation and then unveiled the new babe of the BMW fleet... taaa daaa.... the X1!

The X1 is the smallest X model and it's called a "SAV" (Sports Activity Vehicle). It's a really compact SUV and is actually a little bit smaller than the Honda CRV!

It will be sold here in Malaysia in 2 engine options: diesel and petrol. At the moment, only the xDrive20D model is available and I heard the sDrive18ipetrol model will only reach here sometime in June this year.

I was told for RM90 worth of diesel in the tank, the X1 can run for 900+km. Now, isn't that good news as far as cost savings is concerned?!
Seen at the launch was the Nougat Brown colour, a new colour it seems... the rich coppery tones certainly lent a glamorous sexy slant to the vehicle...

But for me, I would opt for the Super Sexy Garnet Red, man!

Isn't this beautiful, hehe?! Nothing beats a sleek red beemer!!!

If you think the copper and the red are too flamboyant, why not stick to the Classic Elegant White?

Looks good to me, too ;-)

So, after ogling at the new babe, I went and tried my luck at the "Wheel of Experiences" - BMW's version of "Wheel of Fortune" lah.

Well, neither "experiences" nor "luck" was on my side - I only got a BMW notebook. "Notebook" as in a small writing pad for taking notes, not the laptop computer, ok!
On the way out, there were all these questions that BMW posed...

I can't wait for my Extended Weekend test drive of this new babe ... after that I'll be able to tell whether you'll really get 900+km for RM90 and whether it's more powerful than the 323i or 325i - well, that's what the salesman said!

With a price tag of RM299K, this fully imported CBU model is a dream to own!
